The much-awaited football tournament is back, the Champions League group stages for the year 2020/21 has just been announced and the fans could not have wished for more. This year group stages are bound to be exciting and a thrill ride going into the quarters. The defending champions, Bayern, would certainly be looking to redeem their trophy once again going into the 2020/21 campaign.

1. Juventus vs Barcelona

Juventus and Barca were both placed in the same Group G, AND the fans could not have wished for more. After Ronaldo left Madrid for Juventus, watching El-Classico had never been the same. although both teams put on a dazzling display, the hype of Ronaldo vs Messi, the two greatest players of our generation, was something else and is missed by everyone that grew up watching the two rivals. Both the players have since then been struggling in the Champions League and neither has won the coveted trophy.

This year, in the champions league draw, was the first season ever where there was a chance Ronaldo could face Messi in the group stages. It had never happened before. And when the draws were being announced, Juventus were placed in the same group as Barcelona. for their 2020/21 campaign. Ronaldo and Messi would finally go against each other for the first time since May 2018.

This is possibly the best news for all football fans out there, as fans of Cristiano and Messi have waited long for the two rivals to play against each other after Ronaldo left Laliga. This was possible only in the Champions League, and it has happened just the same. This game, apart from Cristiano and Messi, would be emotional as well for some of the players who left their respective clubs in the transfer.

Pjanic would be playing against his former club, which he had just left in the September Transfer window. The same would be for Arthur, who left Barcelona to join Italian giants, Juventus this year. The two of the best mates, De ligt and De jong, who started their career together from Ajax, would also be facing each other in one of the best matches we could expect in the Champions League this year.

2. Paris vs Manchester United

Surely, all the fans out there must have remembered this game that was played in the champions league where United made a comeback in the second leg and went through the next round. A lot of controversies happened but in the end, it was united who won and PSG who made the exit. PSG would be surely looking out for revenge, and they have shown it by performing in this year in the Champions League where they were the Runner up. It would be a delight to watch both the teams going head on head against each other and who comes out on the top this time. Although both the teams would qualify easily, the respective team would be eyeing the top of the table and it would be delight seeing who comes out on the top, ManU or PSG.

We don't want surprises happening here. For me, this is the only group where I think a big team can get eliminated as Leipzig are dark horses for the tournament.

3. Bayern vs Athletico Madrid

The defending champions would like to continue their stellar form and would like to finish the group stages on top of the table. The only hindrance in their path would be Athletico Madrid, who under the command of Diego Simeone would be looking for the same. Both the teams are very strong, and it would be interesting to watch who stands out on the top.
